For the longest time I thought flesh and man were the same. Recently I found a verse that has me questioning this.
who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:13
My commentary describes flesh as a personal effort and man as something done by another individual. So in other words, God does not receive you through the physical birth from your mother, your own personal efforts, or another man.
When I think of flesh, I think of mans body. That is why I assumed they were the same. So what I need to find out is, does the flesh and man have the same meaning in the rest of the Bible as it does in this verse?
I will have to look into that tomorrow seeing how I spent most of tonight on this already. :) Let me know what your thoughts are.
