The Lie

Once upon a time I believed a common lie
And this lie kept me from my Lord.
It is a common error, so I will share
And pray my message is not ignored.

The Devil didn’t come and whisper in my ear
This lie I’m about to tell
But in my mind a thought was formed
It is seeded in the depths of hell.

Living for Jesus is a list of do's and don’ts
And what kind of fun is that?
Giving up my fun was not my desire
Having my way is where it’s at

When my life is over and my youth is gone
And I’ve had the fill of my ways
Then I’ll turn to God and give Him my life.
That will be my godly phase.

But what was this life I was living?
Where was the joy freedom gave?
I was sad and discontent and every day it seemed
Led me one step closer to my grave.

But my loving Patient God came and sought me out
brought me to a place I could see
That the things that I thought I’d miss
Were vices formed to destroy me.

I gave into His love and accepted His Grace
Then at that point I was free.
My choices are my own, ‘cause now I know
True freedom and life He has for me.


So to all those who have to learn on their own
To fill up their days with greed
The lie that was created in the pits of hell
Is the basis for the life you lead.


One misleading lie is based upon another
Is that really happiness you feel?
Or are the choices really masters
And you don’t have control of your will.

The sinner laughs at the saint for his godly life
And laughs and states he is weak.
But when he’s alone by himself
It’s the vices that rule him he will seek

Where is his laughing when there is no longer hope
And all his life is spent
There is no comfort in the deep pit of hell
And the time is gone to repent.

God help the young to refuse that old Liar
While time is still called today
Because living for You is a life worth living
And all other choices fade away.
