Part of Your Present Inheritance

Jesus: “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” ~ Matthew 5:5 ** I believe that it was A. W. Pink, in his epic book on the Beatitudes, who pointed out that this promise not only speaks of the Christian’s afterlife, but also speaks of his present life. It makes sense when you think about it. No one is saved in his pride.  You will not be saved unless you become humble and “meek,” like a little child (Mark 10:15). When you accept Jesus’ sacrifice as payment for your sin and, in…See More

Our Hearts and God's Hearing Us

Say this to the king of Judah who sent you to inquire of the Lord: “This is what the Lord God of Israel says: As for the words that you heard, because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they would become a desolation and a curse, and because you have torn your clothes and wept before Me, I Myself have heard you,” declares the Lord. ~ 2 Kings 22:18-19 ** If this were the prerequisites for…See More

The Mindfulness Factor

The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us. ~ Psalm 115:12 ** The first clause of this passage can be as comforting as you allow it to be. The Lord—our Father, in Christ—is always thinking of us, doting over us with a care that can only be analogous to a good shepherd or a loving parent. The good shepherd responds to any bleat of his sheep, in the heat of day or in the late watches of the night. The adoring parent will spring from bed, at the first cry of the beloved babe. We are…See More

His Sustaining You

The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness. ~ Psalm 41:3 ** The grace of God is more amazing than that of which we sing or that which we can imagine. That Day will reveal the full caliber of it. For those who not only love God, but also are walking in the calling of His purpose, the Lord is overwatching them, preserving them until their appointed day of Homegoing (Romans 8:28). God, more often without their even knowing it, has saved their lives countless…See More

Better and Enduring

...knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance. ~ Hebrews 10:34 (KJV) ** This seems so simple, yet it profoundly shimmers with hope (Also, please remember, the word “hope” in the New Testament is so much more powerful and more certain than the way we moderns use it, for New Testament “hope” means an eager expectation of something that shall occur. Who would not want that brand of hope?) We want Heaven to have “a better and enduring substance”; for, here, in…See More

Jesus' Ministry's Way

Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?"  "Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments."  "Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus replied, " 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,  honor your father and mother,' and 'love your neighbor as yourself.' " "All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I…See More

Imitation of God

Therefore, imitate God like dearly loved children. ~ Ephesians 5:1 ** We are to “imitate God,” not “irritate God.” The latter is avoidable, since the Bible says that finding out what pleases God is possible (Ephesians 5:10). However, do not be tempted to believe that your “status quo” is necessarily what pleases Him. Just because it is what you have believed and done all of your Christian life and just because it is what your church has always said and done—these things are not enough and may…See More

The Omniscient Leading the Blind

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them. ~ Isaiah 42:16 ** This verse seems contradictory, at first. Literally, what good does a lit pathway mean to a blind one? So it must be metaphorical. In a sense, everyone is blind when it comes to following God—believers and non-believers alike. For the unbeliever,…See More

Agree with God

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His Word has no place in our lives. ~ 1 John 1: 8-10 ** Through His creation, through His Word, through His Spirit, through His redeemed ones, God is constantly proclaiming, “Believe in Me.” Through his spawn of sin, through his…See More

My Testimony (about me)
I am a SUPREMELY blessed man! I love our Lord Jesus! I'm happily married--I'M NOT ON NET FOR ROMANCE--to a princess. My driver's license tells me I'm in my 50s; my mind and personality tell me that's several decades overly stated. lol I desire to be known as a trustworthy, faithful, encouraging Godly man. All other things will fall into place when I put Jesus first in that way.

I taught English (and, at various times, coached softball, volleyball, baseball, football) to high-schoolers for many years. I was advisor to FCA, SGA, Beta, school newspaper, and Pep Club, over the years. I substitute taught at a tiny Christian high school in 2008-2009. After teaching in public school for so long, I enjoyed being around (mostly)Christian teenagers and talking about Jesus whenever I wanted!

My wife and I have worked with three different youth groups. From the get-go of my "second chance" Christian life, I've had a passion to help young Christians grow in their faith, because my not growing in mine when I was young-in-the-faith led to my falling away and to some wasted years. And it seems that God still has plans for me to minister to teenagers, as He keeps sending them my way to encourage and to help grow. Being around on-fire young believers rejuvenates me!

God has allowed me to lay preach at a dozen-or-so local churches and in Romania, Trinidad, and Jamaica. God has allowed me to go on overseas mission trips to Romania (3), Russia (2), Ukraine, India, Paris, Trinidad, and Jamaica.

I was a creative writer/editor for a daily newspaper in a nearby city, but corporate thinking and the resulting callous treatment of workers drove me away. For 28 years, I have been a part-time journalist for newspapers and radio. In the last couple of years, I've been a sportscaster for two broadcasting organizations. I've edited a Christian novel for a publishing company in D.C. I have written features for a medical magazine now, too.

Amazingly (to me), I have served as interim pastor four times in four different churches. I'm not an ordained pastor, but God has called me to do this. Go figure. :P

I've published a few things, almost all Christian writings.

Even as I am growing in my faith, I like to help others grow in theirs. Jesus has saved me, sealed me, called me, and loves me with an everlasting love. That's enough to make anyone satisfied.

I respect people. I believe in kindness and consideration. I despise people's "using" others to get out of them what they can. (I recently resigned from a job because I saw too much of that going on.) I've been told that I'm a good listener and a good friend. I hope that is true.

I'd love to be your friend and encourager.

Fellowship, Humility, and Unity

If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. ~ Philippians  2:1-3…
