My Testimony (about me)

Raised from an early age in Catholic Church, moved to Alabama as my mother was in the Pentecostal Church, all the while going to a Baptist High School, I got a pretty good education on religion. I always believed in God, but not in everyone else's interpretation of Him. I remember sitting on the bleachers in the gym when a senior at my high school was giving a moving message on salvation. As the tears ran down his face, I accepted Jesus in my heart. So I studied the bible on my own and went to a Assembly of God church where I wanted to be used. I ended up filling a youth minister position for ten years and also as associate pastor. I learned all I could from Berean College in Theology and Ministry, and finally ended up in a non-denominational church in Huntsville, AL after my tenure there.
I always wondered why God brought me through all these religions growing up. As I get older and I hope wiser, I realize that God brings you through things to where you are to help you in situations that arise later. I also found that my past helped me to want to learn more about Him. No, more than that...to KNOW Him more. I didn't come from a rough background - I was adopted by a loving older couple. I didn't turn to drugs or alcohol. I was a pretty good kid. I do know how to turn away from God, though, just as well as anyone else. Recently, God has brought my wife and I through ovarian cancer. In Huntsville, we were next to one of the leading doctors in the field, and after surgery, prayer, and more prayer, she is cancer free. That was 2 years ago. She just went for another checkup, and is still fine. After the first all clear, we moved to Tennessee so she could be next to her family, and God brought us to a church that we could serve with a wonderful group of friends we now call family. Oh, and the doctor that treated Amy in Huntsville? We are now under the care of HIS mentor. Tell me God doesn't look out for His own! We have learned to live our lives by faith in a living God. I have more, but I don't know when this box will run out of words! Praise The Lord!
