My Testimony (about me)
“Lord I am amazed by You – How much You love me!” It is an incredible story. A story about how in 36 hours, I found this Ministry and what a blessing Bobby, Devin & Kathy have become in my life and the life of my son, Alan. I am a parent who sent my son to Second Chance, recently.

It is amazing how God places others into, out of, & sometimes back into our lives. I learned one-thing several years ago, “GOD IS NEVER EARLY or LATE, BUT HE IS PRISTINELY ON TIME!” -- (Chuck Swindoll).

He tells us: “Yes”-- “Wait” -- and…"TRUST in ME, I HAVE SOMETHING BETTER FOR YOU – WHEN YOU ARE READY.” -- (Charles Stanley)

I was raised in a Christian home (Methodist). My parents were married for 53 years before my Dad left his temporary assignment (living on this earth) for his eternal home in Heaven. I was with him in the hospital the morning God sent for him. “Closure” to a wonderful friendship suspended itself for a while. Five months prior to his 8-day illness, we sat at my kitchen table & re-prayed the Sinner’s Prayer, together. I look forward to seeing him again along with my Maternal Grandmother (Baptist) someday. She was my early “Spiritual Director”. She pledged to God -- Proverbs 22:6 and she worked so hard with me at an early age to teach me more than I could absorb about Adam & Eve, Daniel, David & Jesus Christ. I accepted this information, but didn’t always practice it very well growing up. I would ask God for help, but never thanked Him for so many blessing He gave to me. As I look back at my life, I didn’t have a “Guardian Angel.” NOPE! I had battalions of “Guardian Angels”. My Mom is still living. We always shared good conversation and were close, but she became ill in 2005.

Two years prior to my divorce from Alan’s Mom, I realized it was my job to be the spiritual leader of my home & I had work to do. No, I wasn’t a model Christian. I sat in church as I told myself the following. “I am so glad the Pastor isn’t talking about me, today”. Boy… was I confused & missing the message, but I tried to recall what my Grandmother & parents passed on to me. I am thankful God was rejuvenating this work inside me then. I became a true Christian as a result. The divorce took place(1991). Alan was age 6. Some of the roles were reversed. I kept the house and the kids. We all tried to get along as best as possible, although it wasn’t easy.

I confessed to my Pastor that I really could not get my hands around the term “GRACE”. He did his best to explain it, but about 6 months later the Promise of Grace hit me like a “Ton of Bricks”. I wasn’t this great parent, good baseball & soccer coach, or strong leader of my “New Boy Family”. Grace was the one word that described why my two sons & I were making it through their elementary school years. Grace was the reason why I was blessed with a good income, a home and other material possessions He trusted to my care. Grace was responsible for the help my parents contributed to part time care for my sons. My former wife, Melody & I eventually worked out a shared parenting agreement after about 4 years, but it took its toll on Alan. I am not tooting my own horn, but if the influence of James Dobson had not been in my life during the 90’s, The Lord only knows where we’d all be today.

Since before my marriage, I was an active softball player, cyclist, & spent 3 to 4 days a week in the gym playing racquetball. But… let me regress to 3 months after the divorce was final. My right thigh was strangely increasing in size. My Internist missed the diagnosis, completely. However shortly afterwards, I was diagnosed with a malignant Sarcoma/tumor in my right thigh. The moment the Orthopedic Doctor first told me I would be having an MRI in two hours, as he feared I might have a tumor -- something incredible happened. I was overcome with (for lack of a better description) “a tingly - warm feeling”. I did not hear God audibly, but I felt an incredible peace. Yes, it surpassed all understanding. Radiation & Chemo -- then surgery were the next steps. I lost the tumor and most of the quads in my right thigh, but kept my leg and I cannot express how gratefully blessed I am. The outlook was bleak. Afterwards, more chemo, but to make this long story shorter, here it is 15 ½ years later. Summary: By 1993, I realized God wasn’t finished with me and he gave me two verses of Scripture as proof – Romans 1:16-17 [I’m not ashamed of the Gospel…]. Take time to read it all.

In summary, since 1989, God began a work in my life and I know He will be faithful to complete it. By 1993, He placed us in a wonderful Bible Believing Charismatic Church. I have made references to Christian Denominations in my testimony, but let me state that God has no denominations in Heaven. Do not let my references be a distraction.

He continues to provide me opportunity after opportunity to encourage others and He taught me the power of Accountability. No, I am not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but “BY HIS GRACE, I AM SAVED!”

Since Alan left high school, his friends changed and he fell into a difficult trap for too long. During the brief time he has spent in Arizona, I have heard only encouragement from those that have gotten to know him. I am thankful today we are, where we are as a father and son. I feel strongly Alan will grasp the true meaning of Phil 4:13, a Scripture we wrote inside the bill of many a baseball cap he wore during his playing years. I am extremely confident Alan is right where Jesus Christ wants him to be. And… I know Alan will receive the love that will break the bondage over his addictions and help him develop into the man God desires him to be.

We serve such an Awesome God, who sent His Son to take our place for the sins we commit. I am not preaching to anyone else -- I am preaching to myself!

May the Lord Bless you “GOOD”, today!

That's funny....that's why I put the billboard on my site in the first place....I love that one, too. I think God enjoys a good sense of humor when we are walking in tough times! Shows our faith in him if we can smile through our difficulties, amen? Glad you could visit ....come back again and read my blog about the wood worker. Or my daughter's testimony when she was in Elijah Generation last year...have a great God filled , Spirit led day!
