My Testimony (about me)

I grew up in a catholic home. We went to church almost every Sunday. I grew up believing in God but I didn't know anything about Him. While I was a catholic I never read or even owned a bible. The concept that I learned from being a catholic was that I could sin from Monday to Saturday. Go to church on Sunday confess my sins to the catholic priest and be forgiven. My sins would be forgiven for that week but when Monday came it was a whole new day to begin to sin again. This was the cycle that I lived in. It didn't matter what I was doing. Just as long as I went to church on Sunday so that I could be told by the priest, that I was forgiven. I always thought and considered myself to be a good person. I went to church on Sundays and I have never done drugs, smoked, got drunk or been in jail. So who cares if I lie, steal, cheat and fornicate. As long as I didn't break the most important commitment thou shall not commit murder. I was ok and doing fine. That was my way of thinking.

The same year that I graduated from high school, I found out I was pregnant. I was 18 years old and I moved in with my boyfriend(baby's father) and things got really out of control. My boyfriend was never around, he cared more about his friends then he did about me. He would hang out at their houses doing drugs and drinking alcohol. He was also constantly in and out of jail. During this time I was very unhappy and hated my life. I was depress and lonely.

It wasn't until my boyfriend got sent to prison, that things began to changed. While he was in prison, he got saved. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. I didn't believe that the change would last. But I was wrong. My boyfriend was a new man. He was happy and telling everyone about how great God is. He would talk about God all the time.

I became interested in learning about God because I saw the change that God had done in my boyfriend's life. I wanted the joy, love and happiness that he was experiencing. My boyfriend found a Christian church and starting attending regularly. I went with him but felt somewhat uncomfortable because it was so different then the catholic church which I was used to. But soon I loved attending the Christian church. The people there were so nice and really cared about me and my family. We finally got married. My life was getting better and better.

After a while I got saved. I was so happy and excited because I now not only knew God but had a relationship with Him too. I had never felt God's presence before and when I did it was so powerful and wonderful. I only wanted more of God. God was so faithful and so awesome. I have a hunger and thirst for God and His word. I pray daily and read my bible daily. I'm so thankful for all that God has done for me and will continue to do. I'm thankful for my husband, my 4 children, my salvation and for my church Spirit Life.
