God's Gift

In Colorado, God gave me a gift in a totally unexpected place. We were invited to a beautiful house up on the mountainside. After visiting with our hosts over a great homemade Italian dinner, we went out on the balcony. We could see out over Glenwood Springs; all the city lights in the blackness of the night. They had started a fire in the firepit. As we sang worship songs, I thanked God for the gift of the campfire. He knows how much I like to sit by a campfire, feeling the heat and watching the flames. He reminded me that He made me, knew what I liked, what I enjoyed. He also let me know that I am not to fear the future, that He is capable of taking care of me; that the gift was a reminder that He cares enough to provide even the things I enjoy in places I never thought possible. His words were, "What matters is that I AM."
