Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him. ~ James 1:12
**
“Trial,” “test”—raise your hands if you love these life experiences. Seeing none-to-few, I would like to point out that these two words are not always restricted to what we might think. Let’s take temptation, for example. The first two humans could not handle God’s blessings. He gave them a perfect environment, with all of the provision and protection they would ever need, and that was not enough for them. After a little nudging, they HAD to have the one thing that God said was bad for them. They ignored all of God’s goodness and went after the one thing God said would be bad for them.
How do you handle God’s blessings? Trust me, how you handle them is a huge test—and can even be a trial. When God blesses you tremendously, how quickly do you began devising a plan for blessings management? How soon do you consider how you can glorify God with these blessings and then pray for His guidance as to the best way—not just your way?
Some people can handle the test and trial of hardship better than they can the test and trial of blessing. Jesus said, “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked” (Luke 12:48). The question is this: Can God trust me with trials and tests—whether they be pleasant or unpleasant?
One Day, we shall see that is much more than a mere compliment to hear from Him, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness” (Matthew 25:21,23)!
