Have you ever wondered why we never see miracles anymore? Ever wish you could see someone healed of life-long blindness or see a few loaves of bread feed 5, 000? Better yet, did you ever wish God would allow you to see him..REALLY SEE HIM? In this week, when I could have easily been consumed by myself, when I could have closed my eyes to his world, when I could have grumbled and complained and maybe even had enough stuff to have a little pitty party, God blessed me. God showed me what he witnessed this week...his miracles and marvels and my eyes took it all in .....babies laughing at church and wiggling their little toes and fingers; my son singing hymns of praise at my side; my daughter 'all grown up' in her own apartment; 2 different ladies in their 70th year on this earth being celebrated by their children and grandchildren and friends; my brothers and parents sitting with me discussing family issues; Venus brilliantly shining in the evening skies near the Big Dipper and an even bigger moon; a relative pronouncing God's praises everyday even though he is fighting cancer;and a friend who has found new hope when friends and family came to the rescue; another friend confidently attending worship despite hair-loss from chemo-therapy; a friendship being strengthed through service to the Lord; a man from Liberia, who has every reason to despair, filling our sanctuary with strength, courage and love for the future of Christ's church in his homeland.
God gave me his eyes so that I might see! All these things, I kept missing because I was blind and now I see. I can't explain it in these few simple lines, but this week, I SAW...really SAW a glimpse of what God sees and have been forever blessed because of it.
Here is a link to Brandon Heath's song: "Give Me Your Eyes". Enjoy.
