And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, Who is the Spirit. ~ 2 Corinthians 3:18
**
Have you ever noticed that you are heavily influenced by those with whom you “hang out”? I’ve caught myself mimicking mannerisms—both verbal and physical—of my friends, especially those whom I admire. God has made humans, such that we are intricately connected—often in powerful ways that we don’t appreciate.
On a spiritual level, the same phenomenon is true. If we “hang out” with Jesus, we shall be significantly influenced, “being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, Who is Spirit.” His Word is part of that (Hebrews 4:12-13). His people, who have His Spirit, also serve as His chisel in sculpturing us into His image (Proverbs 27:17). Also, speaking of “reflecting” (our text), is Jesus living in and is Lord of your heart? “As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man” (Proverbs 27:19).
My mother always said that I walk just like her father. I notice that, in little ways and the older I get, I speak and act like my parents. (Just this past Sunday, a friend of my late father told me—somewhat tongue-in-cheek—that as I grow older, I look more like my father than my father looked.) That’s DNA genes. We have God’s spiritual DNA, as our text implies. Assuming that we are continually submitting to His Spirit and His Word, the longer we live for Jesus, the more we should demonstrate His mannerisms (Galatians 5:22-23).
Jesus adores “hanging out” with you. Wait! Listen. Is that He knocking at your door right now (Revelation 3:20)?
